Sisterhood offers a great variety of opportunities for women to become actively involved throughout the year at Temple Dor Dorim. Whether we are planning social, charitable, or educational programs, we are always striving to reach out and assist in our Congregation and the community. We also provide a Jewish support group for each other as we develop friendships.

Sisterhood

My wish for each of you is that you received exactly what you wanted for Chanukah and that you have a year full of happiness, good health and plenty of love! Our wish is that each and every woman that is a congregant of Temple Dor Dorim becomes a member of Sisterhood. Wouldn’t that be incredible? We are proud to say that we have a strong and dedicated membership and growing every day. Membership is $36 – have you joined yet? For information about membership, please contact Ann Daniels atadaniels55@aol.com.

For those of you that don’t know me, I am Jacqueline Gillman, the secretary of the Sisterhood Board and Fundraising Chair for Temple Dor Dorim. My husband Henry is an active member of Brotherhood, and together we are the chairs of the Main Event, “Come Sail Away” which will take place on April 14. Our 3 children, Daniel, Michael and Sarah all had their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs here at Dor Dorim and Daniel was in the first graduating class of the ECC. Sarah is the Membership VP of ATID, Dor Dorim’s middle school youth group.

One of my most enjoyable experiences was going to Israel with the Dor Dorim group. The bonds, friendships and memories made on that trip were priceless! Enough about me…..

January was a busy month for us. Sisterhood’s Progressive Dinner was a huge success and an entertaining evening. We would like to thank Barbara Kantor, our chairperson and her incredible committee; Karen and Scott Rassler, our Appetizer home hosts; Dana and Larry Sands, our Dessert Home Hosts; and all of our dinner home hosts. Sisterhood also hosted Rosh Chodesh led by Alison Teisch our Cantorial Soloist. It was a lovely evening of song, prayer and music for Women to join together and usher in the month of Shevat. If you missed this one, our next one is on March 20, 2012 and you can contact Jodi Weiss to participate [mail2jodi@aol.com].

February gives us a chance to let our Mitzvot shine! Mitzvah Day is Sunday, February 12 and Sisterhood is collecting party dresses to donate to JAFCO. Our very own Temple President, Iris Kauffman, will be captaining this event. We have a drop box in the lobby of the ECC and Religious School land on Mitzvah Day, Iris and her granddaughters will be collecting the dresses as well. Look through your daughter’s closet, and yours, and bring them all in. Allow someone else to sparkle in that beautiful party dress! If you don’t have a Mitzvah dress to give away, there are many other ways to participate in Mitzvah Day. It’s a great day for all of us to come together to give back to the community.

Come Sail Away on April 14, for the Main Event presented by Royal Caribbean International! The entire Sisterhood Board along with many other temple members are putting together an amazing evening full of fun, food and friends. For additional boarding details, please contact Lauren Marks-Cabanas at lmarks-cabanas@templedordorim.org or me at gillman@myacc.net.

We at Sisterhood always welcome new ideas for fundraisers, social gatherings and community events. Please join us and share your thoughts. Mindy Wolpert is our Programming Chair [mgwolp@aol.com].

Looking forward to seeing you and or meeting you at one of our upcoming events.

Jacqueline Gillman,

Sisterhood Secretary

The Sisterhood of Temple Dor Dorim is a women’s organization dedicated to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), Brit Olam (sustaining Jewish continuity) and Kehillah (building community). The Sisterhood works together toward implementing this vision. The women of Sisterhood inevitably develop strong bonds within the group and become active partners with all auxiliaries of Temple Dor Dorim.
